College expense is something which almost each and every household has to include in it’s budget. Unless you’ve enough bank balance to support the cost of education either for yourself or for your family members, you’ve to depend on student loans. However, with a little bit of careful budgeting you can manage the education costs quite efficiently.
5 Tips to manage monthly budget and afford college expenses
If you’re wondering how you can work on your budget plan to afford your college expenses, then the following section may provide you with some easy solutions. Have a look at the budgeting solutions below and manage college expenses efficiently:
  1. Concentrate on saving more: It’s not possible to manage college expenses without saving more. You must make it a point to balance your income and expenses even more carefully to increase your savings. Increasing income will also make a positive difference to your savings account.
  2. Go to libraries rather than buying books: Why wasting money on buying brand new books when you can borrow them from a nearby library? This will reduce your expenses to some extent. If you really need to buy some book, then you may buy old books from your seniors. You can expect good discounts on old books too.
  3. Create a separate savings account for college expenses: Save separately for your college and tuition fees. Try not to use that savings for some other reason. Keep saving in that separate account on a regular basis. This will surely help you to manage your college expenses efficiently.
  4. Modify your budget every month: Your expenses aren’t the same every month. So, you need to keep modifying your budget according to the changing requirements. This is extremely important to maintain the balance in your monthly savings for college education. You must do the modifications every month to get an average amount that you can save.
  5. Skip costly apartments: Dorms aren’t that much cheap at all. So, it’s better to skip costly apartments and shift into college hostels that aren’t much expensive. This will help you to save on rent and you’ll be able to modify your budget accordingly. You may even share an apartment with your friends. Sharing is better when it comes to affordable accommodation.
All these 5 tips will help you to manage your budget effectively so that you can pay off your college fees on time. So, try these tips and stay away from student loan debts as well.

UK. Three years PhD studentships are available within the Advanced Interfaces Group (AIG) as part EPSRC-funded project. The PhD student will join the AIG within the School of Computer Science. He or she will study image processing techniques to support reconstruction methods.
Initially, the focus will be on identification and removal of shadows from images, which is an important step in recovering surface reflectance properties. Subsequently, the intention is to explore image-based methods for identifying and classifying trees, initially using Gabor Filters.
The goal is to derive methods for identifying and removing shrubs and trees from reconstructed models and then re-introduce them into the final high-fidelity rendered scenes.
The project will focus to research the application to architectural design of novel real-time, interactive computer graphics techniques for visualization, planning and public consultation. Specifically, to derive new methods for automatically capturing geometric models of existing architectural sites and then using these models for interactive exploration of design decisions.
As well as recovering geometry, we shall be exploring methods for deriving the ambient illumination at the captured scene – so-called inverse rendering. From this we intend to compute surface properties, allowing the scenes to bere-illuminated using global illumination methods, so that the visual impact of design decisions can be explored under varying lighting conditions.
Although available from 1 October 2019, the normal starting time for PhD programmes is September, and applications from people wishing to start in Jan 2020, or earlier, are warmly welcomed.
The studentships are available to UK/EU applicants. Applicants should have a first class or good upper second class Honours degree (or non-UK equivalent) in Computer Science or a related subject (e.g. mathematics, electronic engineering, physics or mathematical science). Good mathematical and programming skills are essential, but training in other areas specific to the project will be provided as appropriate.
Further information about PhD studentships within The School of Computer Science, how to apply for advertised posts, and application forms are available online.

The PASS4 Golf team offers the best consultancy service in Europe with over 50 years of professionally qualified experience in golf, university sport and education. Our proven reputation is based on integrity, trust and successful placement of student athletes in US universities.
PASS4 GOLF is a non-profit business founded in 2002 by Barry Poole and US based Philip Poole a US soccer scholarship graduate to assess, assist, promote and support student athletes find and win sports scholarships in Higher Education.
The UK team include Director Daniel Gray a US sports scholarship graduate and Barry Poole a former golf publisher and course designer. Over the years we have been diligently advising golfers and their parents about the fierce competition for golf places in American universities and colleges.
There are over 22 million golfers and some 18,000 golf courses in the USA. Most students’ athletes who seek golf scholarships are from Socio-Economic AB backgrounds who prepare for university throughout High School and are used to saving/paying for their education. American families in general prepare well in advance to take advantage of the best scholarships in both State and Private sectors completing their SAT testing by end of Year 12.
International golfers seeking places in the best golf programmes need to display desire and determination and be recommended as prospects capable of winning with the right academic qualifications to gain admission into the main stream academic entry systems.
At PASS4Golf we tell it as it is. Some consultants will raise expectation in the hope that you will decide to move forward. PASS4Golf has no allegiances or affiliations with any of the industry golf bodies. We adhere to the principles we are reknowned for in Assessing Soccer players. Unlike Football where assessing players skills can be contentiously subjective, golf handicap like it or not is the measure of developmental progression and of current ability.
The American universities and college golf systems can be stepping stones to the professional tours for golfers wishing to earn a living playing competitively. For golfers seeking either to remain in the game in some other capacity or following a career in one of the professions after graduating from a US university or college golf program can offer a life rewarding experience with a greater number of job opportunities in the game.
Young golfer teaching and competitive development within the American systems is no better than in the UK. Weather and course conditions in the South may be generally better and opportunities for playing and jobs may be far more numerous than in the UK. However, the elite and talented development work at senior and junior levels supported by the the R&A, the Golf Unions and the PGA’s is superb and a match for what our American counter parts do.
The opportunities and challenges offered in the US university and colleges sectors for young talented golfers are there to be taken although international golfers cannot continue to go on expecting fully or almost fully funded places unless they offer proven talent both on the Course and in the Classroom. Careful financial planning matched to desire, determination and talent is required to reap the rewards. If these elements are present PASS4Golf will open the door to hundreds of US male & female university & college golf coaches in the USA who recruit for the Golf team.
We will initially Evaluate any suitable elite or highly talented golfer in the 15 to 21 age range.
EVALUATION. Register your interest at “Free Evaluation” above to find out if you are eligible for one of the academic entry levels for US golf scholarships. Suitable candidates will then be invited to request an Assessment.
ASSESSMENT. As part of the Professional Assessment we will look at your golf history, your grades, take up your references and and advise on your potential. Most important we will advise you and your parents about all the upfront costs of “getting to the USA” plus the cost of education if any after the scholarships you could attract.
NETWORKING. If you decide to join the PASS4Golf Network you will be personally introduced and recommended as suitably prepared to join a US university or college golf program. Our Network and Database covers all universities and colleges offering places. All Networking clients are mentored all through the process up to departure to America.
Over 175 PASS4 Network clients joined US programs in the 2019 Fall Semester to study and play in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
For 2019 and 2020 NOW is the time to start preparing for that valuable life changing golf scholarship.

In an independent enquiry issued by the Higher Education Commission in 2012, universities were recommended to engage systematically with distance and on-line learning as a means of widening access to postgraduate education. This enquiry highlighted how full-time study was simply not an option for postgraduates with family or financial commitment. For others already in employment, who simply wished to improve their career prospects, full-time study was not an attractive prospect. In an article published on this website in that same year, Wendy Reed explored the idea of improving employability with a professional qualification. She pointed to the benefits of flexible learning and identified the Open University as a key player in this type of educational provision.
Since 2012, universities across the UK have responded to this widening participation agenda, offering postgraduate study qualifications in a variety of forms:
  • part-time;
  • distance learning;
  • on-line training and assessment provisions;
  • regional seminars and workshops;
  • annual residential schools.
If you are thinking of pursuing a postgraduate diploma or a Master’s, then the distance learning elements of these courses can differ greatly depending on the course. With distance learning and on-line postgraduate qualifications becoming increasingly popular, it is worth exploring what to expect from this type of course provision.

A Master’s by Research via Distance Learning

This option is best suited to postgraduates who have a clearly defined project already in mind, or whose research is affiliated closely with their job, or with local resources. The principal difference between a research Master’s by distance learning or on campus is that your supervisory meetings are conducted on line via Skype or Facetime, or even by telephone. On-campus requirements differ from various institutions, so you should check these out before you apply. In most cases, you are not required to attend campus unless you wish to do so. However, at some universities, your course fees also include travel and accommodation for yearly on-campus visits.

Postgraduate Diplomas and Taught Masters via distance learning

A Postgraduate Diploma or a Taught Master’s via a distance learning route follow similar patterns, in that the courses are delivered through a university’s ‘virtual learning environment’. Here you will have access to an online Tutor and in the case of a Taught Master’s, a dissertation supervisor. All the course material and online resources are available via a university’s virtual learning environment and your assignments will often be submitted here. Universities use their on line platforms to encourage students and academic staff to interact through online chats and discussion forums. In general, attendance requirements are limited to examinations at the end of the year or the module. For some postgraduate distance learning courses, universities adopt blended learning, where study-based weeks or days are a compulsory element of the course. While these compulsory events are often on campus, some universities also offer regional tutorials and seminar workshops.
